A teach-in is sheduled for April 16. As a historian of modern Japan, I will be a speaker and will draw on historical ideas of empire in Japan and pointing out the dangerously misguided comparisons of the occupation of Japan after WWII with the post Iraq war scenarios of the Bush administration. Other participants will speak about the idea of empire, occupation, theories of war, the politics of oil, etc.
